SINGULARITY
SINGULARITY was built at McConaghy Yachts in Sydney in 2010 to a design by Adrian Konynendyk of Lutra Yacht Design. Conceived to strike a balance between a comfortable cruiser and a competitive race course yacht and with an with an emphasis on Mediterranean racing and cruising, the sailing yacht’s hull shape is optimised for reaching and features all carbon construction, canting keel, big carbon fibre rig with square-top mainsail, high-aspect rudder, bowsprit and maximum waterline. The deck layout is efficient for both purposes, with the winches clustered around the twin helm stations, close enough for good shorthanded sailing, but with enough space for a racing crew to operate. A separate cockpit forward of the working area is a great lounging space in cruising mode and takes nothing away from racing efficiency.
The lightweight interior was designed by “Design Interior” for optimised performance. The accommodation is comprised of the owner’s suite forward and one guest cabin amidships on the port side. Four pipe cots aft are provided for the crew. The style of the saloon and owner / guest areas is deliberately clean, airy and timeless with a contemporary Scandinavian look combined with some unusual details such as the use of carbon detailing throughout to tie in with the carbon toilets, shower trays and hand basins. All built with minimal weight but solid material and constructed mostly from Nomex panels laid with vertically grained teak veneer.
SINGULARITY was finished and built to an extremely high standard and she has been maintained and kept to the same standards since. A refit in spring 2020 includes, but is not limited to respraying of hull, deck, superstructure, mast and boom, new electronics and PLC. An exceptional yacht now ready for viewing in Palma de Mallorca.
