The Ideal Sailing Yacht For Your Sea Outings
IKRA, formerly known as Kurrewa V, is a testament to the durability and versatility of the 12-metre class in the America's Cup. Throughout its existence, IKRA has played different roles and made a name for itself in different areas. It was first recognised as a state-of-the-art racing yacht that came close, and according to some, should have been the challenger to CONSTELLATION in the 1964 Newport Cup.
Over the years, IKRA has also excelled as a cruising and racing yacht, demonstrating the capabilities of 12-metre yachts in this field. In addition, IKRA has the distinction of being one of the two yachts behind the famous regatta movement known as La Nioulargue, now known as Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, which began as a friendly challenge between gentlemen sailors.
IKRA's current owners have taken care to maintain its heritage by ensuring its versatility in different roles. This includes a removable interior and alternative rigs that allow IKRA to participate as a 'straight' twelve in active international twelve-metre class events around the world. In addition, IKRA can compete in the classic division at CIM classic regattas in the Mediterranean.
For family cruising, IKRA offers a customised, downsized cruising rig, ideal for short-handed sailing. ideal for short-handed sailing. While many great classics claim to be suitable for short-handed sailing, IKRA truly lives up to that reputation.
